Crypto analytics firm Santiment says that a huge whale transaction of Decentraland (MANA) could signal a big price swing for the Ethereum-based metaverse project.
Santiment says a whale suddenly moved 256.31 million MANA worth about $190.2 million, one of the largest transactions the network has ever seen.

A transaction of this size, Santiment says, generally foreshadows a significant price move.
“Decentraland had one of its largest transactions of all time on its network today, with 256.31 million MANA moved out of a known whale address. 
This move was worth $190.2 million. Typically, these massive transactions foreshadow price swings in a new direction.”

MANA is trading for $0.70 at time of writing.
Santiment also says the largest Chainlink (LINK) transaction in eight months just occurred with a whale moving $106 million worth of LINK.
The whale transaction came just before LINK reached its highest price since the FTX collapse, $8.34. LINK has retraced to $7.70 at time of writing.
“Chainlink’s largest transaction in eight months occurred 12 hours ago. $106 million in LINK moved to a new whale address, the largest move since June. This transfer was four hours before the price topped out at $8.34, the highest since the FTX collapse.”

Santiment says that overall the crypto markets are looking healthy with some projects making 20% gains in their market caps in the past week alone as Bitcoin (BTC) threatens to take out the big psychological price level of $25,000.
“The crypto markets continue showing impressive returns, with a large handful of projects that have added back 20% or more to their market caps in the past week. Bitcoin continues to tease the $25,000 range, allowing altcoins to continue pumping right and left.”

Massive $190,200,000 Whale Transaction Signals Big Price Action Ahead for Ethereum-Based Altcoin: Santiment

Three seemingly synchronous crypto whales appeared out of nowhere on Monday, throwing serious amounts of Bitcoin and two Ethereum-based altcoins around.
The first whale moved 229,355,145 Decentraland (MANA) worth $165.6 million from an unknown wallet to another wallet of unknown origin.

Decentraland is a decentralized online gaming and metaverse platform focused on the creation, management and sale of virtual real estate.
The big whale transfer comes with the platform’s native token, MANA, up 2.1% in the last 24 hours at $0.73.
Just four minutes after the MANA transfer, another anonymous whale abruptly moved 13,161,093 Chainlink (LINK) worth $106.8 million to an unknown wallet.
Chainlink is an Ethereum-based decentralized data feed focused on bringing accurate real-world data into decentralized networks.
Its native token, LINK is trading at $8.15 at time of publishing, up 0.1% in the last day.
Like clockwork, another four minutes later, a Bitcoin (BTC) whale emerged, transferring 4,600 BTC worth $112.5 million.
And once again, the transfer happened between two unidentified wallets.
In total, the three whales moved $384.9 million in crypto, and none of the big transfers appear to involve any known investors, organizations or crypto exchanges.
This suggests that none of the crypto involved is on the verge of being sold on the open market.
Bitcoin is worth $24,858 at time of publishing, up 0.6% in the last 24 hours.

Whales Move $384,900,000 in Bitcoin and Two Ethereum-Based Altcoins in Span of Just 8 Minutes

A popular crypto trader says metaverse-focused token Decentraland (MANA) and two other altcoins are gearing up for a burst to the upside.
Pseudonymous analyst Cantering Clark tells his 160,400 Twitter followers that MANA may be following in the footsteps of Filecoin (FIL), a peer-to-peer decentralized storage network that erupted over 62% last week.

“There are still some alts that are holding key levels that I wouldn’t write off just yet, MANA being one of them.”

At time of writing, MANA, an Ethereum (ETH)-based altcoin, is trading for $0.717, down almost 2% on the day.
Next up, the crypto strategist says he’s accumulating Hooked Protocol (HOOK), a gamified social learning platform that aims to accelerate web3 adoption. According to Cantering Clark, HOOK could be setting up for a rally toward its recent high at around $4.
“Added more to HOOK here.
Return to the high at a minimum seems reasonable.

-No blow off yet that normally leads to re-accumulation for new pairs.
-Technicals look good.”

At time of writing, HOOK is worth $2.86, hovering above Clark’s short-term support.
Another altcoin on the trader’s list is DYDX, the governance token of the decentralized exchange dYdX. Cantering Clark says DYDX still looks bullish as it continues to trade above the multi-month resistance at around $2.74.
“DYDX still is holding the topside of a nine-month range, and while chop can be aggressive and painful, I think this still has some gas in it.”

Rallies Incoming for Ethereum Metaverse Project and Two Additional Crypto Assets, According to Analyst

During the first month of 2023, the top two leading cryptocurrencies, bitcoin and ethereum, experienced double-digit gains against the U.S. dollar. Meanwhile, several alternative cryptocurrencies saw even greater increases in value, with metaverse tokens like Decentraland’s MANA and The Sandbox’s SAND rising 92-150% against the greenback.
Metaverse Crypto Assets Outshine Bitcoin and Ethereum
Metaverse crypto assets have outperformed both bitcoin (BTC) and ethereum (ETH), the leading crypto asset and top smart contract token, respectively. In the past month, Decentraland’s MANA token has been the top performer, rising 150% against the U.S. dollar. Over the last two weeks, MANA climbed 7.3%, and in the past seven days, it rose 2.9%. On January 31, 2023, a single MANA was trading for $0.716 to $0.755 per unit.

The Sandbox’s SAND metaverse token has increased 92% in the past 30 days and has risen 5% in the last two weeks. However, despite the 30-day increase, seven-day metrics show a 7.5% decrease in SAND. On Tuesday, SAND was trading at a 24-hour spot price of $0.710 to $0.741 per unit. Another top-performing metaverse token this past month was Axie Infinity’s AXS, which has risen 80% higher than the previous month. In the last two weeks, AXS has climbed 21.5%, but it has fallen 11.4% in the last week. On Tuesday, AXS was trading at a price of $10.55 to $11.23 per coin.

Following Axie Infinity’s AXS increase in value over the past month, the Apecoin project’s APE token has risen 63.3% in the same period. APE has increased 19.4% over the last two weeks, with 5.5% of those gains occurring in the past week. As of writing, a single APE is trading for prices ranging from $5.71 to $5.96 per coin. The token associated with the Internet Computer project ICP has also risen 48.9% over the last 30 days. ICP has gained 16.5% over the past two weeks. On January 31, 2023, ICP was trading at prices between $5.65 and $5.88 over the last 24 hours.

A significant number of other metaverse tokens have risen in value this month as well, following a similar pattern to artificial intelligence (AI)-related cryptocurrencies. AI-based cryptocurrencies have seen even greater gains compared to metaverse-related coins. However, metaverse-focused crypto assets have still performed better than the top two cryptocurrencies; bitcoin (BTC) rose 40% this month, and ethereum (ETH) increased 33.5%.

Metaverse Tokens Outperform Top Crypto Assets in 2023 With Decentraland’s MANA Leading the Pack

Crypto analytics firm Santiment reports that whale activity on three altcoins has surged since the start of 2023.
Starting with the liquidity protocol Aave (AAVE), Santiment says that the 42nd-largest crypto asset by market cap has seen the number of transactions valued at over $100,000 increase by more than 1,100% year-to-date.

Next up is Litecoin (LTC). According to the crypto analytics firm, the 16th-largest digital asset by market cap has recorded an over 75% increase in $100,000+ transactions since the start of the year.
On the other hand, Santiment says that the decentralized virtual world Decentraland (MANA) has seen an over 871% increase in the level of transactions worth above $100,000 in under three weeks.
“As market-wide pumps have flattened out, for now, several altcoins continue individual runs. AAVE (+1,100%), MANA (+871%), and LTC (+75%) are up big on $100,000+ transactions since New Year’s.”

Aave is trading at $84.63 at time of writing, up by 60% since the start of the year, while Litecoin is changing hands at $86.45, up by 24% since the year began. Decentraland’s market price is quoted at $0.69 at time of writing, up by 130% year-to-date.
Turning to Chainlink (LINK), a source of off-chain real-world information for smart contracts, Santiment says that the number of whales holding the 24th-largest crypto asset has risen by over 26% in the past eight months.
“Chainlink is floating a bit ahead of the altcoin pack today. There are 463 addresses that hold at least 100,000 LINK, and they have ascended +26% since May, 2022. It is encouraging when an asset sees whale accumulation during corrections.”

Whale Activity on Top Ethereum Altcoin Project Skyrockets 1,100% As Litecoin and Decentraland See Massive Jumps: Santiment

In the last seven days, the Ethereum-based project Frax Finance is the second biggest winner within the top 100 cryptocurrencies by market cap. With a price increase of 64%, the FXS token is only behind Decentraland (MANA), which has surged 76% within the same period.
With the massive pump, Frax Share Token (FXS) has moved up to the 63rd position in the ranking by market cap and has seen a bullish rally since January 2. While the price was $4.09 on that day, FXS was at $9.06 at press time.
When the price briefly rose above $10 yesterday, the gain was over 140% since January 2. In the 1-day chart, FXS has broken the resistance zone established in May last year between $7.40 and $8.20 and is now facing resistance at $10.02.
The first two attempts to break this resistance have failed for now, so a retest of the former resistance zone could be on the cards before the Frax token continues to rally. This would also be a much-needed correction, as the RSI on the daily chart is still at 83.

The weekly chart confirms the extremely bullish picture for the FXS token. Once the price consolidates in the daily chart and subsequently breaks the $10.02 level, the way would be clear for a rise toward $13.

The price level served as strong support in November and December 2021, before FXS rallied to an all-time high of $52.80 in January 2022.

What Do The Fundamentals Of Frax (FXS) Suggest?
As NewsBTC reported, Frax Finance is benefiting from the liquid staking (LSD) narrative that emerged earlier this year and has since caused all LSD tokens to skyrocket. However, it is questionable whether the hype can continue for a longer period of time.

As Jordi Alexander, CIO of Selini Capital explained, the Ethereum Shanghai hard fork could be in for a rude awakening:
ETH staking is going to explode after the Shanghai fork allows withdrawals- esp. now as Metamask integration makes it easy for Dummies. But LSD tokens are overvalued in anticipation of this – revenue is not going to change much, bc reward yields will plunge as staking % goes up.
But analyst Thor Hartvigsen doubts whether the same will be true for Frax Finance. The analyst shared five reasons via Twitter why Frax Finance will be a key player in DeFi this year.
The first reason is that Frax offers the largest APR among liquid staking providers at 6-10%, while its nearest competitor is only around 5%. The main reason for this difference is that frxETH can be used in DeFi applications such as the ETH/frxETH Curve pool.
The second reason Hartvigsen cites is that Frax Finance has made extensive improvements since its inception, in particular, it has improved its model (FRAXV2) and “has become a huge liquidity engine with a range of products.”
These include algorithmic market operations (AMOs), FraxSwap, FraxLend, FraxFerry (native bridge design), ETH liquid staking, and FPI (US inflation rate linked stablecoin).

Third, it’s the AMOs that make Frax special, as they don’t just let collateral sit dormant, but use it in various DeFi applications. It also offers some of the highest stablecoin yields, which significantly strengthens FXS by increasing liquidity on Curve.
Last but not least, Hartvigsen points to Frax’s roadmap to reach a market cap in the trillions and become the risk-free underlying in DeFi. The analyst touts the Fed Master Account (FMA) as the biggest innovation:
A FMA is dollars deposited directly into the FED treasury’s ledger and grants access to US Treasuries. The FED gives a status on the ledger once a day which essentially is the ultimate audit.
This would make FRAX one of the closest things to a ‘risk free dollar’. It’s a very ambitious goal however and likely a few years away.

Ethereum-Based Frax Finance (FXS) Is Up 64%, Is There Still Opportunity?

The cryptocurrency economy is doing well during the third week of the new year, compared to the end of 2022. It is currently valued at $993.17 billion, as many digital assets have seen double-digit gains during the last two weeks. While some of the top ten cryptocurrencies, like bitcoin and ethereum, are performing well, a few digital currencies have outperformed a number of the top ten coins in terms of gains this year.
Top Cryptocurrency Performers of the Week: Decentraland’s MANA, Frax Share, and FTT Lead the Way
Digital currency markets have been in the green recently, as the leading cryptocurrency, bitcoin (BTC), has risen 23.29% against the U.S. dollar in seven days. The second-leading digital currency by market capitalization, ethereum (ETH), has also gained 18.39% this week. Out of the top ten positions, bitcoin has outperformed its competitors in terms of seven-day gains. However, a large number of cryptocurrencies outside the top ten have exceeded BTC’s gains in the last week, with much higher increases against the U.S. dollar.
For instance, Decentraland’s MANA token has risen 88.02% this week. Over the last 14 days, decentraland (MANA) has gained 131.8%. While the MANA gains have been significant, at $0.721 per unit, the digital currency is still down 87% from its all-time high on Nov. 25, 2021. The second-leading cryptocurrency this week is frax share (FXS), which has gained 81.69%. FXS has also increased 111% against the U.S. dollar in two weeks. The third-largest gainer this week is the ftx token (FTT), as the exchange token has climbed 62.82% higher during the last seven days.

FTT managed to gain 160.5% against the U.S. dollar in 14 days. Another big gainer over the last seven days is helium (HNT), which jumped 59.53% during the week and 92.8% higher in two weeks. Aptos (APT) has increased 57.21% in seven days and 114.5% in 14 days. Other digital assets that have outperformed bitcoin’s and ethereum’s gains so far this year include solana (SOL), compound (COMP), optimism (OP), convex finance (CVX), the sandbox (SAND), and gala (GALA), respectively.

Meanwhile, as there were a large number of gainers over the last two weeks, there have also been a number of losers. According to seven-day statistics against the U.S. dollar, the biggest loser is flare network (FLR), which has lost 16.76% this past week. The coin is newly launched and has only been around for just over seven days. Other losers against the U.S. dollar this week include nexo (NEXO) and unus sed leo (LEO). After a significant rise on Jan. 16, the cryptocurrency economy as a whole is up 1.47% during the last 24 hours.

2023’s Crypto Gainers: Decentraland’s MANA Token Outperforms Bitcoin With 88% Increase in One Week

According to CoinMarketCap’s data, Decentraland’s native token, MANA, has gained 17.59% in the last 24 hours, following the stellar performance of metaverse tokens since the start of the new year. MANA is one of the top 100 cryptocurrencies and has grown by 95% in the last month. In addition, it has been in the green for 14 of the previous 16 days.

What Pushed MANA To The Sky?
At the time of writing, MANA is trading at $0.6887. Since last week, the token’s price has increased by approximately 70%, bringing its market capitalization to $1,2 million. As investor opinion in the crypto markets has improved in response to positive macroeconomic news, smaller market cap cryptocurrencies have outperformed their larger competitors.

The recent U.S. economic data is also why the increase in MANA price. According to data released last week, US inflation has been trending downward over the past few months. From its all-time high of 9.1% in 2022 down to 6.5% in December of that year, the Bureau of Labor Statistics reports a dramatic decline in the consumer price index (CPI) for the United States.
The U.S. Federal Reserve (Fed) has been hiking interest rates to bring down inflation. This data suggest their efforts are working, and the market is feeling more optimistic as the chances of a monetary policy pivot are increasing, according to their expectations.
According to additional data, MANA is one of the most popular “metaverse” platforms, with roughly 8,000 unique daily users.
Improvements to avatars, profiles, and friend requests have recently been released for Decentraland users. It works toward making the platform more user-friendly. However, it was a time-consuming process before the platform started to recover. These essential factors have led to the price increase and burst in investor interest.

From January 16-29, 2023, Melbourne Park will host the first round of the 2023 Australian Open, a Grand Slam tennis tournament. This year’s Australian Open will be the 111th in the tournament’s history and the 55th in the Open Era and could contribute to the bullish price action by onboarding new users on MANA.

MANA Soared 75% This Week, Entering The Top 100

A closely followed crypto trader says Decentraland (MANA), ApeCoin (APE) and Frax Share (FXS) are setting the stage for big rallies.
The pseudonymous trader Cantering Clark tells his 156,700 Twitter followers that the metaverse protocol Decentraland is showing a short bear squeeze, signaling further upside.

“GameFi and metaverse pumping. If I had to guess, MANA has the potential to get even more violent to the upside given that OI [Open Interest] is nearly double what it normally was, before a bunch of Barry-related shorts and hedges were tagged on. This squeeze has more fuel.”

A short squeeze happens when traders who borrow units of an asset at a certain price in hopes of selling them for a lower price to pocket the difference are forced to buy assets back as the trade moves against their bias.
At time of writing, MANA is valued at $0.41, up over 38% from its low this month of $0.295.
Looking at APE, Cantering Clark says the native token of the Bored Ape Yacht Club community is likely going to continue upward after taking out its immediate resistance.
“A close through $4.30 for the weekly is setting up right now with only 30 minutes left. If metaverse and GameFi are going to continue to pump, APE catches wind in its sails.”

APE is valued at $4.52 at time of writing. A move toward the analyst’s target of $7.20 suggests an upside potential of nearly 60% for APE.
Lastly, he says FXS, the governance token for the Frax stablecoin protocol, appears to be forming a solid bottom and could be gearing up for a breakout.
“I see FXS catching a bid again, and this three-day chart has a granite bottom. I am betting on this breaking up, and positioning accordingly.”

Why isn't there a VR client yet for Decentraland or The Sandbox?


The Decentraland (MANA) price short-term price prediction is leaning bullish due to a bullish signal in the RSI. The Sandbox (SAND) short-term price prediction is more decisively bullish due to the breakout from a descending resistance line.



Decentraland Short-Term Price Prediction – Breakout Incoming?



The price of Decentraland has decreased underneath a descending resistance line since Dec. 5. The downward movement led to a minimum price of $0.284 on Dec. 30. The MANA price has been moving upward since but has not broken out from the resistance line. 



Despite the failure to break out, technical analysis indicators are bullish. This is clearly visible in the RSI, which has generated considerable bullish divergence (green line) Such divergences often precede upward movements. 



If this is the case, the Decentraland price will be expected to break out from the resistance line and increase toward the 0.5-0.618 Fib retracement resistance levels at an average price between $0.355 – $0.373. 



However, it is worth mentioning that Grayscale holds 1% of the total market cap of MANA. If the first is forced to liquidate some of its holdings, this could have a negative effect on the MANA token price. Therefore, a rejection from the resistance line could send MANA back below $0.30.



A decrease below the Dec. 30 low of $0.284 would indicate that the trend is still bearish.

SAND Price Could Increase by 50%



The SAND price has decreased below a long-term descending resistance line since reaching a maximum price of $0.985 on Nov. 5. The downward movement led to a low of $0.375 on Jan. 1. 



Despite the drop, several bullish signs indicate that a relief rally is expected. 



Firstly, the SAND price has just broken out from the descending resistance line, signaling that the downward movement could be complete. 



Secondly, the six-hour RSI has generated a considerable amount of bullish divergence. Moreover, it has now moved above the 50 line. 



The previous time such a divergence occurred (green, dashed), the SAND token price increased by 23%. These are signs that an upward movement toward the 0.382-0.5 Fib retracement resistance levels at $0.608 – $0.681 is expected.  A fall below the Jan. 1 low of $0.375 (red line) would invalidate this bullish SAND price analysis.

To conclude, the SAND and Decentraland short-term price predictions are both bullish. However, the outlook is slightly more favorable for SAND because it has already broken out from its descending resistance line. A drop between the Jan. 1 lows would invalidate the bullish price forecast for these digital assets.

Is Now the Time to Buy Metaverse Tokens? MANA and SAND Generate Bullish Signals

Prominent market analytics firm Santiment says that a trio of altcoins is showing healthy signs moving into 2023.
According to the crypto intelligence firm, interoperability blockchain Quant (QNT), metaverse protocol Decentraland (MANA) and Ethereum-based (ETH) gaming blockchain Enjin Coin (ENJ) may have bright futures ahead of them.

Santiment says there is a sharply diminishing supply of the three coins on crypto exchanges, which could bode well for price action this year.
“Quant, Decentraland, and Enjin are among the largest market cap assets that saw significant amounts of coins leaving exchanges in 2022. Though their respective prices are down big, as is the rest of crypto, these are good signs for a better 2023.”

QNT is trading for $105.46 at time of writing while MANA and ENJ are valued at $0.292 and $0.241, respectively.
Looking at Bitcoin (BTC), Santiment says it suffered a “sputtering” end to the year as whales and sharks aggressively sold the king crypto asset throughout 2022. The data reveal deep-pocketed investors unloaded $10.75 billion worth of Bitcoin in over 12 months.
“Since two weeks before the Nov. 2021 Bitcoin all-time high, shark and whale addresses holding 10 to 10,000 BTC have dumped a collective $10.75 billion. This drop, combined with circulation drying up, has led to a sputtering end to 2022.”

Quant (QNT), Decentraland (MANA) and One Ethereum-Based Altcoin Showing Good Signs for 2023: Santiment

Decentraland (MANA), the cryptocurrency launched in 2020 by Ariel Meilich and Esteban Ordano, failed to take advantage of some of the positive developments that happened within its ecosystem this year as it closes 2022 in a “beaten” state.
Over the last 12 months, the digital coin has shed 91% of its value, failing to recover from the massive price dumps it experienced triggered by the a series of unfortunate events that plagued the crypto space and the growing uncertainty in the market.
According to latest tracking from Coingecko, at the time of writing, the digital token is changing hands at $0.2941 and has lost 10.3% of its value during the past seven days.
The last 30 days have been rocky for Decentraland as well, as the altcoin ended up depreciating in value by 27.3%.
This really is unfortunate, considering the crypto’s ecosystem has been making impressive progress in the NFT realm.

Decentraland: 440% Growth In Minted NFTs
The metaverse-based gaming platform seemed to have focused most of its attention to the non-fungible token (NFT) space this year, as evidenced by its incredible performance pertaining to the industry.
In its yearend performance report, Decentraland disclosed that for the year 2022, there were 2.7 million unique NFTs that have been released on its platform.
With such a figure, on a year-over-year (YoY) basis, the project enjoyed a 440% increase in the volume of NFT assets minted on its network.
Decentraland was also proud to announce that it will end 2022 with a unique active user count of 1 million after it tallied a 13% jump in that particular department over the last 12 months.
Moreover, the project also managed to grow its sales volume by 510% during the same time period after it sold 143,900 wearable NFTs.
However, even with this superlative showing, Decentraland’s MANA failed to catch a break from its bearish streak.


What MANA Holders Can Expect In 2023
There’s a bit of good news for holders of the Decentraland altcoin as Coincodex predicts a possible increase in value in the coming days.
According to the online cryptocurrency information provider, over the next five days, the digital asset’s trading price is expected to rise by more than 2% and will change hands at a value of $0.2977.
Meanwhile, 30 days from now, the crypto is expected to hit and surpass the $0.30 mark once again as it is expected to trade at $0.3305.
If these forecasts translate into reality, MANA holders and investors could finally find a little breathing room to take a break from the challenging landscape of crypto industry today.
